Creating the new site on the other machine

Top  Previous  Next

You are now ready to set up the B100 machine. To do this you will need to copy some files across from the master machine to the new machine as follows:

1. Close Farriers Manager and the Log Manager on the master machine.

2. Make sure the new B100 machine is using the same version as that of the master machine.

3. Make sure that you have run Farriers Manager at least once on the B100 machine to create all the relevant background files.

4. Make sure the B100 machine is registered using the new registration key you will have received when you purchased the Multi User version

5. As with the master machine enable Multi User mode in the Preferences section on the B100 machine. Allow Farriers Manager to close but DO NOT RESTART it yet.

6. Go to your master machine (B000) and in Explorer open the Farriers Manager folder.

This will be found in one of 2 locations depending on the operating system being used:

XP - Shared Documents/Ambrit Software

Vista or Windows 7 - Public/Public Documents/Ambrit Software

data folder

We find that the best way to copy the files to the B100 machine is by use of a memory stick.

Copy the DATA and IMAGES folders contained within Farriers Manager shown above (on the B000 machine) and copy that to the memory stick.

Now within the same Farriers Manager folder (on the B000 machine) find the folder INI just below the Data folder. Double click that.

b100 ini folder

You show now find a new folder called B100 in this case. If you are creating several sites then clearly you must go to the relevant folder for the machine you are setting up. Open the relevant folder.

b100 contents

Now you will see inside that folder a file called Replicate.ini You now need to copy this file to the memory stick along with the DATA and IMAGES folders.

Warning: There is a file called Replicate.ini in the INI folder of the B000 machine. DO NOT copy this file but copy the file in the B100 (or relevant machine) folder.

Now you need to transfer the DATA and IMAGE folders and the Replicate.ini files to the B100 machine.

Below you will see the folder structure of the B100 machine which will be identical to the B000 machine. Steer to the Farriers Manager folder and find the DATA and IMAGES folders. Delete these (making sure you are using the B100 machine!)

Now you can paste the DATA and IMAGES folders from the memory stick into the Farriers Manager folder.

To transfer the ".ini" file copy the file from the memory stick into the INI folder on  the B100 machine.

Here is what the new machine (B100) folder/file structure should look like when you have finished ...

b100 folder structure

You have now completed the setup of the folder structure and should now have an identical data set as the master machine. At this stage although the data is identical, once set up the B100 machine will only display information that is relevant to itself. So do not expect to see a full data set on the B100 machine.

Note: Because only the Mirror/Parent Site facility was available previously you will see ALL records on the B100 and other machines. A future version will restore this filtering capability.
