Setting up the Master site |
|
|
Now that Multi User has been switched on you need to set up the system. This is generally an automated process.
The first window will appear:
Define the Master Site
This is now going to start the process of defining the machine and how it interacts with others. We recommend you follow our advice using naming conventions we find work best.
The machines will be identified using a 4 character code. Please refer to the Structure Diagrams for details. So for the MASTER machine only you will enter the site reference as b000 (b + 3 zeros).
Site: This is the identifier of this machine you are setting up. Being as this is the first time you have done this then the site is the master machine identifier - b000
IMPORTANT: Please enter the code using LOWER CASE characters
Parent Site: Again being as this is the first time you have done this the Parent Site is the master site which again will be b000. The Parent Site is the machine this one reports to and being the master it can only report to itself!
IMPORTANT: Please enter the code using LOWER CASE characters
You do not have the choice of Site Type in this version. So press Next.
FTP Transport
This version does not use FTP so make sure the Use FTP box is NOT checked. Press Next.
EMail Transport
This is the heart of the Multi User setup sequence. The settings are described below:
Use EMail: Check this box to indicate how the log files will be transported between machines. Future versions will introduce 2 other methods of transport.
The following settings will be identical (for now) as what was entered in the Preferences section at the start.
POP User: Your b000 Username e.g. b000@ambritsoftware.com POP Password: Your b000 Password EMAil Address: Your b000 email address e.g. b000@ambritsoftware.com POP Server: Your b000 POP server e.g. mail.ambritsoftware.com POP Port: Your b000 POP port usually 110 SMTP Server: Your b000 SMTP server e.g. mail.ambritsoftware.com SMTP Port: Your b000 SMTP port usually 25
The other security settings will be picked up from the Profile you set up in Preferences.
When complete click Next.
