Testing and your first changes |

So now you have set up Multi User to synchronise 2 machines B000 and B100. The B000 machines has a full set of data. The B100 does also but it cannot see all the data, only it's own B100 records.
From now on the synchronisation is as follows:
The B100 machine will send all it's own data (B100 records) to the B000 machine. The B000 machine will then pass back all the updated data relevant to the B100 machine plus all added, changed or deleted master records such as Breeds. All this will be automated by the Log Manager at processing intervals that you have set. You can force a synchronisation cycle at any time by going to the Log Manager and pressing Process. You may need to do this on the other machine also.
The first thing you need to check is that the relevant Clients have been transferred. Go to your Client list and make sure you can only see the Clients you assigned to the B100 machine.
Now repeat that for the Contacts and if there were any appointments for those Clients check these are present also. Now check if the transactions were transferred (if you chose to transfer them) and similarly with the messages.
You can no start your first live transfer using the power of Multi User.
On the B100 machine go to a Client and Edit the record. Change a name, or add an address field or a new number. Basically add or change something and save the Client record.
Now either wait for the Log Manager timer to reach zero or force the synchronisation process by clicking Process in the Log Manager. You can tell if it sent the files as the timer will resume when complete.
Now go to the master machine B000 and make sure it has received the files by either waiting for the timer to reach zero or force the synchronisation process by clicking Process in the Log Manager. You can tell if it received the files as the timer will resume when complete.
Now check that Client. Are the changes there? If so all is working as it should (B1000 > B000) and we suggest you make more changes to that record on the B000 machine and send that back to the B100 machine. Once both machines are doing this all is working (both ways).
If either of the changes do not occur there could be several reasons.
1. You did not send the files from one machine or the timer has not reached zero. 2. You did not receive the files from one machine or the timer has not reached zero. 3. The email settings on one or the other machines are not correct. 4. You were attempting to transfer records on the master machine B000 which were not assigned to the B100 machine 5. You did not actually make any changes. |
