Some of the Scan Manager menu selections are presented as a popup menu. Below is an overview of each.
The Quick Scan Menu
Open this menu by right-clicking the mouse on the main viewer pane. If there are no scanner profiles setup you will see:
This is a fast way to scan using a different profile other than the one set as the default.
Your selection choices are:
Scan using TWAIN interface - this option presents a list of TWAIN devices on your computer. When you select one, the scanning software that came with the scanner is opened.
Setup Scanner profiles - this option opens the Scanner Setup screen
Cancel Action - this option closes the menu without starting a scan
If there are scanner profiles, they will be presented at the bottom of the list. Selecting any one of those will scan using that profile.
Note that the "active" profile has the check mark. Selecting this item would be the same as simply clicking the scan button on the toolbar.
The Change TIFF File Compression Menu
Open this menu from the pulldown menu under Options --> Scan
This menu option would open a popup menu that would allow you to change the file compression that would be used for the next page scanned. This setting would remain in effect until you change it.
The menu looks like:
Note that the "active" compression method has the check mark.
HINT: You can use this to save different types of documents into the same file.
For example: If you are scanning B&W pages into a document you may want to use a high level compression such as GROUP4 to produce a small sized file. However this would cause a photo scanned with the same setting to be converted into a poor quality B&W scan. When you are ready to scan the photo, simply change the compression type to one such as JPEG or LZW and scan the photo.
After the photo is scanned (and stored) at the compression level that is more suitable for it, you can change the compression back to the GROUP4 and continue scanning B&W pages.
This type of flexibility allows you the best of both worlds. Great looking documents and small file sizes.

The menu looks like:
Note that the "active" compression method has the check mark.
