The Toolbar Buttons |

The Scan Manager main interface is a group of simple buttons related to the tasks they perform.
From left to right on the toolbar the controls are:
This button ends your scanning session. If you have made changes (such as added a page or deleted one) and have not saved (by clicking the Save button or using the Save As button) then you are prompted to save your changes. If you save your changes are permanent, if not - they are lost.
Note: if you have the automatic backup enabled you can exit without saving your changes and the original file will be restored even if you had clicked the save button.
This button will open a picture dialog box and allow you to select a new TIFF file to be loaded into the current document. If the filename of the file loaded is different from the one you started with it will be changed to the new name. If your program is not configured to allow changes to the filename, then the original filename will be kept in the main program.
This button will confirm your desire to save the file in its current state. If a filename has not been specified then you will be asked to provide one.
Note: If you need to rename a file, you can use the File --> Save As option as long as the main program is configured to allow it.
This button opens a menu that presents you a set of advanced scan options. From here you can:

Note: All scans from this menu are done using the "Default" active scanner profile (or the TWAIN interface if no scanner profiles exist)
This button opens a menu that allows you to move the current page forward or backwards in the TIFF file.

This button opens a menu that presents you the option of deleting the current page or all pages in the document. You can also cancel the delete action. You are asked to confirm your decision before the delete takes place.

Note: If you have backup enabled you can delete pages and still change your mind by responding that you do NOT want to save your changes when you exit. This works even if you have clicked the Save icon first. However if you do not have the backup enabled - once you click Save you will confirm your changes and you lose the ability to cancel.
This button opens a menu that presents you the option of printing the current page or all pages in the document. You can also cancel the print action.

This button opens a menu that presents you the option of exporting the current page or all pages in the document to a PDF file. You can also cancel the export action.

Note: The quality (and file size) of the PDF document will be controlled by the compression level set for PDF export. You can change that setting using the File --> PDF Options menu
The scan button starts a document scan using the default scanner profile.
If no scanner profiles exist, you will be presented with the TWAIN interface from Windows when you click the scan button. This will in turn open the default software interface that came with your scanner.
Note: You can change the default scanner profile by selecting it from the list in the pulldown menu under Options --> Scan --> Change Active Scanner Profile
The Toggle Thumbnail Navigation button turns the filmstrip display of thumbnail images On or Off. If it is On then you can scroll up and down and click any thumbnail to load that page into the main viewer pane as the current page.
This area displays the current page number in a "Page x of x" type display.
This button navigates backwards one page in the current file. It is only available if there are more than one pages in the file and if the current position is beyond the first page.
Note: You can also navigate backward in the current document using the PgUp key. If you want to navigate to the last page in the current document you can press the Home key.
This button navigates forward one page in the current file. It is only available if there are more than one pages in the file and if the current position is before the last page.
Note: You can also navigate forward in the current document using the PgDn key. If you want to navigate to the last page in the current document you can press the End key.
This button opens up a dynamic that represents the pages in the current file. The current page has a check mark. You can select any page in the menu, "jump" directly to it and that page will be loaded in the main viewer pane.

This button zooms the current page display so that the full height of the page is displayed in the viewer.
This button zooms the current page display so that the full width of the page is displayed in the viewer.
This button zooms out on the current page displayed in the viewer.
This button zooms in on the current page displayed in the viewer.
This drop down combination control serves several purposes.
This drop down control presents you with a selection of filters that affect the quality of the scanned page. These filters can make a significant difference in how well your scanned page looks.
The filter selection stays the same until you change it.
The default filter (a good balance between speed and quality) is Linear.

If your program is configured with a image editor, clicking this button will display a menu with options to edit the current page or insert a new image from the image editor into the current document.
